Zaman Al Wasl announced that Ahmed Huwaidi had joined its team while detained in Deir ez-Zor Central Prison. The newspaper linked the complaint to footage he supplied that it said documented the use of expired medicines and anesthetics at Al-Kasra Hospital.

The newspaper said it had appointed a lawyer and was following the case with his family and organizations that protect journalists.
